Why We Started
Solaris Collective was born out of urgency, frustration, and hope.
We’ve seen what happens when people are left to survive without the most basic needs. In many rural communities, especially across East Africa, needs like electricity, clean water, and access to healthcare are still out of reach. Not because people don’t deserve them, but because systems have failed them. That failure isn’t just logistical. It’s political and it’s structural.
We started this organization because we believe people shouldn’t have to wait for help that never comes. We believe in building with communities, not for them. We believe in energy as a starting point, not an afterthought. Reliable power means more than just lights. It means clean water, education, healthcare, food security, and economic possibility.
This began with two people. One in the United States, one in Tanzania. We didn’t have all the answers, but we knew what kind of future we wanted to help create. One where communities lead the way and every step is taken with intention, care, and respect. Solaris Collective exists because the world doesn't need more top-down aid. It needs more listening, more partnership, and more work that actually meets people where they are.
